What We Do
WV Endangered Properties
PAWV uses an annual Endangered Properties List to publicize the needs of threatened resources in the state and to provide assistance to the groups preserving them.
Preserve WV AmeriCorps
The Preserve WV AmeriCorps program is a statewide service initiative to promote cultural heritage tourism and enhance historic resources and development projects in West Virginia. Members are placed at historic sites all over the state for a period of one year and complete historic resource improvement projects.
Education
PAWV offers a variety of educational opportunities, including West Virginia’s only statewide preservation conference and presentations. Workshop topics include Preservation 101, Heritage Tourism, Hazardous Materials, Preservation Funding, and Historic Window Rehabilitation.
Site Assessments
PAWV provides on-site guidance and prioritized narratives needs assessments to historic property stewards. This involves PAWV staff traveling to your site and assessing the needs of your site, both organizational and preservation. These services are sometimes provided for free and are also fee-based.
WV Historic Theatre Trail
The WV Historic Theatre Trail is a statewide thematic tour of historic theaters, encompassing both cinemas and live performance venues. All of the Trail's theaters are listed in (or eligible for) the National Register of Historic Places. PAWV administers the trail, and it was developed in partnership with the WV State Historic Preservation Office.
